Why is marketing important

6 May 2021

Just last week we were asked, “which businesses need marketing?”

Our honest *hand on heart* answer is all businesses. All businesses need marketing – from start-ups to well-established companies, small through to large organisations, businesses with amazing reputations and those facing issues around public relations.

Effective marketing can benefit all businesses.

Now, this doesn’t have to mean multi-million-dollar traditional advertising campaigns; newspapers, radio, tv and billboards. Although if that’s what you want to do, that’s great!

Effective marketing can be as straight-forward and simple as having your Google business listing up-to-date, posting weekly on social media, building a website that reflects your brand or offering consistent, quality customer service (for word of mouth there’s nothing greater!).

But why you ask? Why is marketing important? The reasons are many and here’s but a few:

K – Keep top-of-mind for current and potential customers.

Someone may not need or want your service or product right now but when they do your marketing efforts will mean they’ll come to you first.

I – Inform, engage and interact with an active on-line community.

The world is moving swiftly and digitally. More people are on-line than ever before and this is a huge group of people you don’t want to miss.

S –  Sales.

To put it simply, businesses need to make money. Your income generation allows you to grow, develop, invest and employ. If people don’t know about what you do, how can they buy from you?
